unhooked

Keep only the parts you came for.

You opened YouTube for one video. The rest of the page has other plans. Unhooked lets you unsubscribe from the parts you never asked for, on the sites that pull at you most.

YouTube · X · Reddit · Instagram · TikTok · Facebook · LinkedIn · Threads · Twitch · any other site with the wand

Unsubscribe from the UI

One switch per part.

Recommendations, Shorts, comments, trends, the whole sidebar. Hover a switch to see what it covers, outlined on the page. Balanced does the sensible set in one click, and it only includes what has been seen working on the live site.

The popup: a list of sites, what you removed, and a switch for each part of the page

Anything else

Point at it. Click. It stays gone.

Inspect Element forgets when you reload. The magic wand doesn't: what you remove stays removed across reloads and sessions, on any site, until you bring it back. Name your removals, undo them, or bring them all back at once.

Your time

See where it really goes.

By site, day and hour, with sessions and your long stretches. It's a record, not a judge, so it counts whether or not you're hiding anything. Each year gets a recap you can share. It stays on your computer.

Your time: the total, a line of time per day, sessions and where it went. Sample data. The year's recap card: total time, top sites and the shape of the year. Sample data.

Focus

Just the video

A key or a button in the player fills the window, without going full screen.

Skip the feed

Land where you meant to

Leave a feed before it loads, for a page you choose: your subscriptions, your saved posts, anywhere.

Twitch

Stay on the stream

Links in chat become short pills, with previews like a Discord embed, including X posts with their pictures and video.

Film mode

Frame what's worth keeping

Clean screenshots to your clipboard, and on X a real post framed at the center of the screen, ready to record.

Sketch

Click on a drawing

Rather not touch the real page? Pick the parts you don't want on a dot-matrix sketch of it.

Move settings

Take it with you

Copy your choices to any other browser as text or a file. No account involved.

Light by design

It does nothing on sites it has no business on.

Hiding is CSS, so nothing is removed from the page and turning a control off restores it at once. On YouTube's Balanced preset there's no measurable change in style work. The numbers and how to reproduce them are in the performance notes.

Private by default

No account. No server. No analytics.

Your settings and history stay in your browser. Network use comes from one feature: Twitch link pills look up the links that appear in chat. Turn pills off to stop that. Every permission is explained.

Install

Build it once and load it.

It isn't in the stores yet. It takes Bun and about a minute.

git clone https://github.com/Priyansh4444/unhooked
cd unhooked
bun install
bun run build:chrome # or build:firefox
